Ibiza, end of may –
the dance music world gathers together for a weekend full of networking, music development and madness. It is our first IMS as a press partner and we are meeting people from all around the world. Some people we knew already, some people we will probably meet later
tonight. The motivation seems huge all around the conference and I never saw so many trendy sunglasses in such a short space before. Swag all around the area, mixed up with international spices and vibes.
The whole event has that special atmosphere, an atmosphere that immediately involves you, that infects you, that makes you feel being part of the international dance music world. The Hard Rock Hotel was the main spot for the IMS, holding all conferences, networking hubs and further events. Highlight of the first IMS day, was a rooftop event, where star DJ ERIC MORILLO brings up special beats to heat the audience up for night number one. The view is spectacular, the people beautiful and the beats are up to date – more IBIZA FEELING is almost not possible. Besides of these amazing memories on the Hardrock rooftop, PETE TONG also holds a sensitive opening speech about the passing of AVICI and the pressure in the modern dance music industry. At IMS you start to understand, why so many people want to enter this global dance music market. People that are participating this conference, absolutely love it and live for it, they take it serious. The event is very professional and intense, but at the same time super rock n roll (or dance n roll). The panels are very diverse, lots of different tops and angels are intensively discussed. Guests from UK, US, Germany and other countries give their insights in modern dance music topics and share these visions with the audience. You can interact and ask questions, even though you might be a completely newcomer in this world.
Seth Troxler on the pool talking about latest releases, or upcoming artists exchanging ideas, the networking at IMS is and easy for everyone. You can potentially meet people, who would hardly ever meet in your normal surrounding. And you do not have to be the networking pro, you just have to feel the IMS vibe.
The International Music Summit Ibiza seemed more accessible than ADE. It is very compact and easy to navigate yourself. As a visitor it is easy to interact and Ibiza is surely a different spot than a big city like Amsterdam.
